Acel [Acel Bisa - van Ommen] is a singer, songwriter and recording artist based in the Philippines.
Today, as a solo artist, Acel is popular for singing the English version of “One Love” from the Korean TV drama series “Spring Waltz” that has seen her music video raking in over a million YouTube hits. She is also well-known as the lead vocals to the songs “Torete”, “Sulat” and “Pag-Ibig Kong Ito” with her former band “Moonstar88” in the early 2000’s. Acel is also the former lead vocalist of the late 90s OPM band “Orphan Lily”.
In 2008, Acel independently released her first album as a solo artist entitled “Silver Lining” that included the singles “Pakiusap” and “Laugh and Cry”. Her song “Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-Ibig” was also compiled into the soundtrack of the ABS-CBN sci-fi telenovala “Rounin”. Acel also contributed a single entitled “Gulo, Hilo, Lito” to the soundtrack of the prime-time TV show “My Girl” starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson.
Over the years Acel has collaborated with some of the industry’s leading artists. For instance, her all original composition “I Believe” is part of pop-icon Christian Bautista’s “Captured” album. She has contributed back-up vocals to the tracks “Buong Linggo” for the band “Gish” and the track “Sinehan” for the band “Soapdish”. Jaco Benin has also come up with a rendition of “Torete” in his own debut album. In 2011, Acel and Yeng Constantino co-wrote the anti-mining campaign song “Palawan” as well as “Umalab Ka”, the theme song to the “Ignite 2011″ youth movement performing in front of thousands of campus leaders with their all-girl project band “Sesa”. Most recently, she has worked with teen sensation and Fil-American artist Emmanuelle Vera on the video shoot for Acel’s newest single: “Hello to Heaven”.
More than a musician, Acel is a co-founder of “RIGHT START”, a non-profit group set up to help toddlers from the urban poor. Acel is passionate about inspiring and empowering young people and passionate about making an impact in the next generation.
